Haverford

LEGENDARY ARCHITECT WILLIAM L. PRICE designed this home in 1901 for Louis Clarke, the founder of the Autocar Manufacturing Co. Using historic photographs, a strong understanding of the period, and previous restoration experience of other Price buildings, Archer & Buchanan Architecture, along with meticulous furniture, light fixtures, and finishes by Barbara Gisel Designs, restored the house and recreated lost features. A new modern kitchen rendered in the Gothic style was seamlessly merged into the fabric of the original structure. Each stained-glass window was carefully documented, removed, restored, and reinstalled along with a new Tiffany window, which was added to the new first-floor powder room. The dining room's original wood was stripped and restored to its original beauty. In the breakfast nook the homeowner had a special nod to his wife adorned on the ceiling. The entire house is truly a masterpiece with a client that cherished every part of the aspect of bringing it back to its original glory.
